“Scott Gillingham elected as Winnipeg’s next mayor”

Scott Gillingham is upgrading his seat at City Hall. He has been elected as the next mayor of Winnipeg.

It was with roaring cheers as Gillingham took the stage after being elected with 27.5 per cent of the votes Wednesday night, beating his closest opponent Glen Murray by more than 4,000 votes.

“Next week it will be my high honour to serve and to govern and to lead this city, and to build on that history with ever skill I can muster,” Gillingham said during his victory speech. “My campaign motto has been from the start – Uniting to build a stronger Winnipeg – and it will be my goal to make every effort through the coming months and years of this term to unite Winnipeg together so we can build a stronger, brighter city.”

SCOTT GILLINGHAM ÉLU MAIRE DE WINNIPEG

Après deux mandats comme conseiller municipal de St. James, il s’était lancé dans la course pour devenir maire de Winnipeg.

Selon les premiers résultats partagés par la Ville, le duel a été très serré entre lui et Glen Murray. À l’heure d’écrire ces lignes,  Scott Gillingham l’emporte avec 27.54 %, soit 53 663 voix. Il devance Glen Murray d’à peine deux points qui termine avec 25.29 % des suffrages. Kevin Klein est troisième de cette course avec un résultat de 14.78 %. 

 Quelle soirée! , s’est-il exclamé devant sa famille ses partisans. Je reconnais que les votes étaient très divisés. C’était une course très serrée , a ajouté le nouveau maire de Winnipeg.
